Carols By the Bay is set to light up the holiday season once again and this year there’s a new school joining the merry chorus.

Boondall State School will harmonise with Sandgate State School, Brighton State School and Nashville State School for the beloved 4017 tradition on Thursday, 5 December at Einbunpin Lagoon Park, making it the biggest choir to date!

Deagon Ward Councillor Jared Cassidy said the combined school choir would be singing all of the crowd’s favourite Christmas carols.

“Students at Sandgate, Brighton, Nashville and Boondall State Schools are already practising the songs and getting ready,” Cr Cassidy said.

“They are excited because it’s a special event where they get to perform for their families, but also in front of a crowd of hundreds.

“It’s also the end of the school year just before we head into the Christmas holidays, so that brings a lot of extra excitement.”

Bayside Divas and Multitude Community Choir will also perform as part of a festive repertoire of classic Christmas tunes like Feliz Navidad, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells. Families will be able to join in the fun with song books provided for sing-alongs.

Attendees can indulge in a sleigh-full of treats, including a barbecue, snow cones, ice cream, coffee and potato twisters. Lions Christmas Cakes will also be available for purchase.

Festivities, Treats, and a Visit from Santa

Cr Cassidy, who hosts the event alongside Anika Wells MP, said families loved the relaxing atmosphere of the event.

“It’s a relaxing way to spend an evening under the stars after a busy school year,” he said. “Families get to sit back and enjoy the Christmas spirit the event brings.

“This event is a great way to kick off the Christmas season as families prepare to enter the Christmas school holiday period.”

Kids can look forward to a special visit from Santa Claus at the end of the night, who will spread cheer and hand out lollies as a sweet treat.

In the case of wet weather, the festivities will be relocated from Einbunpin Lagoon Park to The Sands Bowlo.
