If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed in your home, your heart, or your head, it may be time to declutter.

Michelle McLean, of Divine Directions, started her own journey to decluttering her life at the height of COVID in 2020 and now helps her clients do the same.

“We were locked down and, like many others, I found myself looking around my home thinking it would be a great time to get things in order,” she said. “I started the decluttering process with paperwork, and then furnishings, and then looked to simplify other areas in my life that were not aligned.”

As Michelle continued to streamline, it led to a major change in her life.

“It is amazing how decluttering in your home leads to decluttering all areas of your life,” she said. “This is how my business got started a year later!”

As a social worker by profession, Michelle takes a holistic approach to helping her clients simplify and gain control of their lives.

“It’s important for people to be aware of what they really want, and how clutter may be affecting their desired lifestyle,” she said. “It’s about rethinking the state of your life and decluttering both your home and your head.”

NDIS Support

Michelle and her team also work with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) clients – a cause very close to Michelle’s heart as she is also an NDIS participant.

“I work with both NDIS participants and support coordinators who are looking for change and may have difficulty achieving their goals,” Michelle said. “I love helping people become more independent through developing habits that build confidence, and creating spaces that are clutter-free, functional and safe.”

For people who may not be comfortable with bringing someone into their home, Michelle, alongside colleague Kirsten Cargill, will be hosting a one-day Declutter Your Life workshop in Brighton to help attendees get the organisational ball rolling.

“The course will introduce ways to use mindfulness and meditation to clear and focus your mind, routines and tools to declutter, and an action plan for moving forward,” Michelle said. “It’s about knowing where everything is, loving your life, and having supports that make living easier, more fulfilling, and FUN!”

Tickets for the one-day course are available at events.humanitix.com/declutter-your-life. For more information, email hello@divinedirections.com.au.
