The Brighton Bulldogs Football Club is set to celebrate the end of their season in spectacular style with their annual Gala Day.

The club currently has 800 members, and Bulldogs Miniroos co-ordinator, Kristy Mancini, said this year’s Gala Day was going to be bigger and better than ever.

“We really feel the community spirit around the club is stronger than ever,” she said.

“We held a very successful trivia night earlier this year, and the energy was next level – the success of that event has enabled us to put on our best Gala Day.”

Gala Day will feature live entertainment, an inflatable football field, rides, and fireworks.

“All our teams also receive their presentations, medals and awards on Gala Day, it’s really special,” Kristy said.

The Future of Brighton Bulldogs

In recent years, the club has had a special focus on promoting women’s football.

“It’s about equality and a fair go,” Kristy said.

“Our head of women’s football, Dave Lowe, does a sensational job. This season, we had two over-30s women’s teams, and for the first time, we had three senior women’s teams, one of which was the division premiers.

“Next year, for the first time, we will have girls-only teams in every division. We saw a huge shift in the community towards women and girls playing football with the Matildas and the Women’s FIFA World Cup.

“We’re continuing to see that growth, and our women’s and girls’ teams are all very supportive of each other.”

Kristy added that Bulldogs would not be able to function without volunteers.

“Our club runs on volunteers, and I want to especially give a big shout-out to all our coaches – without coaches, we don’t have a club,” she said.

“It’s 18 weeks of dedication from them, and it’s not just on game day – it’s training, it’s planning, everything that goes into running a team.”

Bulldogs opened brand new change rooms this year, and there are plans for further upgrades.

“We’re looking at improving all our facilities, from new goals to getting our lights upgraded to LED lighting,” Kristy said.

“We’re trying to source as much support as we can, and if anyone in the community is interested in sponsoring Bulldogs, we have some great sponsorship packages available.”
