No matter whether you are an avid or aspiring reader, there are book clubs in North Brisbane to suit you! While the North Brisbane area is full of incredible experiences and things to do, sometimes you just want to curl up with a good book.

Joining a book club is a wonderful way to not only meet new people, but also to understand what you are reading at a deeper level through discussion and debate. Book clubs can keep you accountable, develop your critical thinking skills and let you have fun at the same time!

Take a look at the selection of book clubs in North Brisbane we have found for you. We are sure there will be one there that you will love! If not, consider visiting your local library and starting your own. Council libraries have some great resources to help you get started.

Tough Guy Book Club

The Tough Guy Book Club started in Melbourne in 2012 and has spread worldwide ever since. This group aims to get men together, in pubs to chat about books and more. You don’t even have to finish the monthly book to come along! This group is about creating community in a fun environment. You can RSVP on their Facebook page, register to join the group, or simply show up on the night.

Tough Guy Book Club – Wilston

The Tough Guy Book Club Wilston chapter meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7.00pm at Quincy’s, 64 Thomas St, Grange. Quincy’s is a fabulous architecturally designed bar and coffee shop that can be found in a basement! Definitely worth a visit. “A fantastic place for any size of group, with great vibes and amazing service,” says Evie.

Tough Guy Book Club – Ashgrove

The Ashgrove Tough Guy Book Club group meets at Hope & Anchor, Paddington’s very own English style pub, housed in an old bakery! The group meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7.00pm. Hope & Anchor can be found at 267 Given Terrace, Paddington.

Tough Guy Book Club – Fortitude Valley

The Fortitude Valley Tough Guy Book Club meets at The Osbourne Hotel, a jungle oasis and stunning location in the heart of Fortitude Valley. Come along and meet the group on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7.00pm. The Osbourne Hotel is located at 766 Ann St, Fortitude Valley.

North Brisbane Book Club

The North Brisbane Book Club is a group for all book lovers in North Brisbane. Each month, members are polled to choose the monthly book and then the group meets to discuss everyone’s thoughts and opinions. The wonderful thing about this group is that parents are welcome to bring along their children, making it more accessible to those with little ones. Join the Facebook group to find out more.

Bright & Early Book Clubs

Bright and Early Books is a bookstore located in Ascot and runs a number of different book clubs for both adults, young adults and children. They understand the importance of fostering a love of reading from a young age, and so they offer four different Bright and Early junior book clubs for different age groups. Kids can join the Junior Book Club, the Pre-Teen Book Club, the Teen Book Club or the YA Book Club depending on their age. These clubs are run weekly during school terms and dates and times depend on the chosen club. All catch ups are in person at the bookshop. Adults aren’t forgotten at Bright and Early, with four different Bright and Early adult books clubs on offer as well. Choose from Classic Reader Club, New Release Book Club, This and That Book Club and Daytime Readers Book Club. Members are encouraged to help pick titles and the groups meet monthly. Expression of interest to join is available via the website.

Blokes Book Club – Redcliffe

The Blokes Book Club in Redcliffe is exactly that – men meeting to discuss books they are reading and to have a chat! This is an excellent opportunity for men to get together and meet others with the same hobby. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Redcliffe Library,  476 Oxley Avenue, Redcliffe, from 5.00pm-6.00pm. Come along for a great chat and a laugh.

Next Chapter Book Clubs – Redcliffe

The Moreton Bay regional council libraries do a fabulous job of hosting regular book club events. The Next Chapter Book Clubs are led by the wonderful library staff with a focus on giving people with developmental disabilities opportunities to learn and build their communication skills. These groups are free to join and no registration is required.

The Next Chapter Book Club Redcliffe is a weekly book club that meets every Wednesday morning from 11.30am-12.30pm at the Redcliffe Library, 476 Oxley Avenue, Redcliffe.

Chermside Library Book Club

The Chermside Library Book Club is a book club that promotes discussion and debate around the books they read. This book club meets  in the evenings meaning it is perfect for anyone who works during the day but would still like to join a club. Join for the opportunity to meet new people and discover a fine selection of books. There is no cost to join and further details can be found on the website.

Books Anonymous, Book Club

The Books Anonymous Book Club is a group of book lovers who meet at EclecTea, a tapas bar in Brighton. We think tapas and books are the perfect pairing! Each month members vote for the next month’s book and new members are welcome. The group meets the first Thursday of the month at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Register your interest on their Facebook page to come along.
