Easter dates – Friday 3 April – Monday 6 April, 2026.

Easter is the time for renewal and a great opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved break with the family. Once you’ve had your fill of choccy eggs, you’ll likely be looking for fun things to do! Located near the waterfront, Sandgate is an idyllic spot for so many enjoyable Easter activities

In terms of actual calendar events running across Easter 2026, there are the epic festivities like the Bluewater Festival. Then, there are the slightly more subdued shindigs, like the Sandgate Easter Art Show. No less spectacular, events like these offer a taste of local culture and celebration.

Alongside events, there are plenty of ways to create your own Easter fun when you’re in and around Sandgate. You could organise an Easter egg hunt, partake in some Easter-themed bingo, or get involved in all sorts of colourful arts and crafts. Taking things more outdoors, it’s the perfect time to host a picnic, cast a line, and, while you’re at it, enjoy some great seafood!

Gladstone Ports Corporation 78th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race | Shorncliffe

Eastertime in Sandgate and surrounds just wouldn’t be the same without the annual nautical spectacle of the 78th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. Watch from the shorelines as entrants from all across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania (as well as from overseas) set sail from Bramble Bay.

As the name of the race suggests, the competition finishes at the Port of Gladstone. It’s all in the name of the Courier Mail Cup. Did you know that this is one of the oldest perpetual trophies in Australia that has been continuously competed for?

All the excitement and glory starts at the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club. You can also book to have lunch at the stunning waterfront restaurant or enjoy a drink at the bar. As mentioned above, Shorncliffe itself has a lot to offer. So you can definitely explore more of this lively suburb while you’re at it. It certainly presents a fabulous way to spend part of your Easter break!

Bluewater Festival | Shorncliffe

Bluewater Festival Shorncliffe

This one’s a biggie, and for good reason! The Bluewater Festival, proudly organised by the Sandgate and Bayside Chamber of Commerce, is a fun and festive annual event. The festival brings food trucks, live music, carnival rides, and much more to the heart of Shorncliffe. All the activity takes place in the scenic waterfront Moora Park.

It all starts off on the afternoon of Thursday, 2 April, at 4pm and continues through to 8pm that evening. The second day of the event is the full day on Friday, 3 April—9:30 am to 8:30 pm. To finish things off right, there will be an evening beach party with spectacular fireworks. This celebration also coincides with the above event—the 78th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

The Bluewater Festival offers a view of the race from Shorncliffe Pier and foreshore. It is also a free event for the whole community. What’s more, it’s great for kids, with plenty of activities and displays. Adults are sure to find the food, the markets, and the buzzing atmosphere a hit!

Easter Egg Hunt | Bracken Ridge

What kid (or big kid at heart) doesn’t love a classic Easter egg hunt? This hunt is one for the ages, with over 1000 dollars’ worth of chocolate up for grabs. Plus, outdoor seating, great cocktails, and live music!

As for that epic Easter egg hunt, the frenzy will start from 3 pm and wind up at 5 pm. Plus, all day long, the kids will have access to free games and activities! While the kids are occupied, you can get some pre-hunt fuel from the tavern’s nosh spots: Panama Jack’s or Two Wise Guys!

Make sure to reserve your table in advance because spots fill up quickly!

You can splash in the sunshine recreationally, swim indoors, or take the opportunity to work off some of that Easter chocolate by doing some laps. The Brisbane City Council facility offers a 50-metre outdoor pool and a 25-metre indoor pool.

A big attraction is the kids’ splash pool with slides and other fun structures. There is disabled access, a heated pool, and a wading pool. A kiosk and on-site cafe allow you to make this more than just a swimming venue. It’s definitely a great place to wind up this year’s Easter break!
