At Fresh Paint Workshops, nobody is expected to arrive knowing exactly what to do. The focus is on having fun, trying something new and discovering what can happen when you give yourself permission to be creative.
Led by Sandgate-based artist Meeghan Nation, Fresh Paint Workshops offers welcoming art workshops across Brisbane’s northside, including Deagon, Chermside West and Bray Park, near Strathpine.
From relaxed paint-and-sip events to children’s workshops and multi-week art courses, every session is designed to make creativity accessible. No previous painting experience is required, and participants receive step-by-step guidance and plenty of individual attention along the way.
Meet Sandgate Artist Meeghan Nation
Creativity has been part of Meeghan’s life since her school days. Over the years, she has turned that passion into a career, first establishing Cambridge Art House in New Zealand and now bringing Fresh Paint Workshops to Brisbane’s northside.
With more than 15 years of teaching experience, Meeghan knows how to make people feel comfortable—even when they begin a workshop convinced they cannot paint.
Her self-taught artistic style is influenced by Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe and French Fauvist artist Henri Matisse. Colourful, expressive and sometimes delightfully quirky, Meeghan’s work spans florals, landscapes, birds, architectural pieces and scenes inspired by familiar Australian places.
She designs and paints every artwork used in her workshops, giving each session its own character and creative challenge.
Learn to Paint in a Supportive Setting

Fresh Paint Workshops are about more than copying an example. While Meeghan guides participants through each stage of the painting, everyone is encouraged to add their own colours, ideas and creative licence.
During the workshops, participants can explore different brush techniques, colour combinations, textures and approaches to building an artwork. The supportive, small-group environment also allows Meeghan to provide plenty of one-on-one guidance.
Fresh Paint Art Club participant Leanne Rooney described the experience as both fun and supportive, adding that she learnt a wide range of painting techniques and enjoyed being challenged by the different themed artworks.
The finished paintings may begin with the same inspiration, but each one tells a slightly different story—and everyone leaves with something personal and frame-worthy.
Paint-and-Sip Workshops and Art Courses

For those looking for a creative night out in North Brisbane, Fresh Paint’s paint-and-sip workshops combine painting, conversation and plenty of laughs. Participants can bring their own wine if they wish, gather a group of friends and enjoy creating an artwork in a relaxed environment.
Themes change regularly and include vibrant florals, landscapes, animals and playful contemporary designs. The program features everything from highland cows and sunset swans to cottage gardens, cocktail-inspired paintings and local landscapes.
Those wanting to develop their skills further can join a multi-week acrylic painting course or Fresh Paint Art Club. These longer programs provide more time to explore different techniques, tackle new themes and build confidence from one artwork to the next.
Children can also get creative through selected workshops and school holiday art camps at the Fresh Paint Studio in Deagon.
A Creative Idea for Private Events
Fresh Paint Workshops can also bring colour to birthday celebrations, bridal showers, social gatherings and corporate events.
Private painting events are available for groups of eight to 50 people. Materials are provided, and groups can select from a collection of around 40 different artworks. With an experienced artist guiding the session, guests can relax, chat and create something memorable together.
For those who prefer to paint at home, Fresh Paint also offers online painting workshops. Art lovers can also browse Meeghan’s original artworks and prints or enquire about commissioning a unique piece.
Whether you are looking for an art course, a paint-and-sip night, a school holiday activity or simply a different way to spend time with friends, Fresh Paint Workshops makes it easy to pick up a brush and begin.
