You don’t have to travel far to enjoy one of the many beautiful sunset spots in North Brisbane at the end of the day. We have done the hard work for you and chosen our top picks so you can watch the sun go down and end your day the best way possible. No matter whether you are a local or visiting this stunning part of the world, we have found a spot for you, including a few hidden spots known only to locals!

Watching the sunset is a great way to bring closure to the day, and to spend time reconnecting with nature. Sometimes it’s hard to make that time for yourself, but it is so worth it to start to relax and to reap the health benefits. Taking time out to do something that brings you back to the present and encourages mindfulness can help you reduce your stress levels. And it’s free!

Top tip – Are you an early riser? Some of these spots are perfect for sunrise as well!

Redcliffe Jetty

Does anything really beat being by the water at sunset? Watch as the sky changes colour as you enjoy sunset on the Redcliffe Jetty. The seaside town of Redcliffe is only a 40 minute drive from Brisbane CBD but it makes you feel like you are on holiday as soon as you arrive. The jetty is just over 200 m long making it the ideal spot for a short stroll as the sun goes down. Grab a picnic or dine in one of the many local restaurants along Redcliffe Parade when you are done.

  • 139 Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe

Woody Point Jetty

A short 10 minute drive along the water south of Redcliffe is Woody Point and the Woody Point Jetty at the southern end of the Redcliffe Peninsula. The jetty was built in the 1880’s and extends out to just over 200 m. With ample parking, this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon before sunset. After the sun goes down, why not grab dinner at The Belvedere Hotel, walking distance from the jetty.

  • Oxley Ave, Woody Point

Bartley’s Hill, Ascot

This hidden gem is the perfect location if you are time poor. Only a short drive from the city and you can take in the view as the sun goes down. You can even simply drive by at sunset if you don’t have the time (though we think it’s better to sit and enjoy). There is also a water reservoir that provides water to the surrounding suburbs, and a former aircraft observation post at the same location. Bartley’s Hill is a small piece of Brisbane’s history with a wonderful view and is a local favourite.

  • Massey St, Ascot

Shorncliffe Pier

If you are keen to stay closer to Brisbane but still be near the water, head to Shorncliffe. The Shorncliffe Pier is just over 350 m long and perfect for an evening stroll. The pier was originally built in 1872 but underwent restoration in 2016, making it a favourite spot with locals. Check out the catch of the day by the local fisherman, then grab some seafood for dinner at one of the nearby fish and chip shops.  There are plenty of park benches along the water for you to sit and enjoy your meal.

  • Park Parade, Shorncliffe

Nudgee Beach

Nudgee Beach is one of the closest beaches to the Brisbane CBD, yet it doesn’t feel like it. Before you catch the sunset, why not go for a walk (or bike) along the boardwalk that travels through the Boondall Wetlands which are filled with an abundance of birdlife. If you are bringing the kids, be sure to check out the playgrounds and parks along the water.

  • Fortitude St, Nudgee Beach

New Farm Park

If you are a Brisbane local, you probably know New Farm Park, but have you been there for sunset? This sprawling park is situated on the Brisbane river, perfect if you come with a large or small group. Watch the glow of magnificent colours cover over the city without having to travel too far. There are playgrounds for families to enjoy as well as cafes nearby for a cheeky ice cream. Free and paid parking is available onsite, or choose public transport, including the City Cat, for a more stress free experience.

Top Tip – If you are a garden lover, allow some time to stroll through the New Farm Park rose garden.

  • 1042 Brunswick St, New Farm

Lake Eden, North Lakes

Located in the town centre of North Lakes is Lake Eden, a beautiful man-made lake offering a reprieve from the hustle of day-to-day life. A short 2 km walking track surrounds the lake and is a great option for a stroll to catch the sunset and wind down from the day. Walk with friends or simply grab a spot at a picnic table and watch the sky change colour. Parking is available close by.

  • 50 Lakefield Dr, North Lakes QLD 4509

Brighton Beachfront

Just north of Sandgate is Brighton and the Brighton Beachfront. With an abundance of wide open spaces and plenty of beach to go around, this is a great spot for locals and visitors to gather at the end of the day. There is plenty of street parking but if you are staying close by, we suggest walking and taking in the waterfront along the way. If you have a furry friend, Decker Park Dog Park is less than 1 km away.

  • 86/106 North Rd, Brighton QLD

From afternoons on the water to locations that show off the colours of the sky, this region offers a diverse array of stunning sunset spots in North Brisbane to witness the day’s grand finale. Grab your friends, pack a picnic or choose a restaurant and go and enjoy the end of another beautiful Brisbane day.
