With sweeping views of the Shorncliffe Marina and an unbeatable coastal vibe, it’s no surprise the new menu at the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club is drawing a crowd.

With a strong focus on seasonal produce and fresh seafood, the menu has been brought together by Justin Gill, a highly regarded chef with extensive experience.

“I have worked in some incredible kitchens over the years,” Justin said. “I trained at the Hyatt in Darling Harbour, then joined the opening team at W Brisbane. After that, I moved to Far North Queensland where I helped reopen a resort and introduced a fresh approach to seasonal menus and relaxed dining.”

The new menu, which is already earning high praise from customers, is all about connection. It’s designed to encourage sharing and showcase fresh, seasonal produce.

“I started with two core dishes: a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and a whole roasted barramundi,” Justin said. “These were created to bring people together and create memorable moments. There is more seafood this season, which felt right with our waterfront setting.”

The menu includes something for everyone, from share plates and lighter meals to quick lunches and hearty dinners.  There are also vegan and vegetarian options on both the main and breakfast menus, and gluten-free choices as well.

Inspiration, Atmosphere and Waterfront Dining

Justin said two things inspired the new menu: the location and family.

“The location was a big influence,” he said. “With the bay right beside us, it made sense to feature more seafood. I was also inspired by my wife and mother-in-law, who both cook wholesome meals using fresh, local ingredients.

“At home, we often share food at the table, and that experience of connection and comfort is something I wanted to bring into the restaurant.”

With its inviting atmosphere and coastal charm, the venue continues to attract visitors for all occasions.

“The combination of good food, great views and a relaxed setting makes it a favourite spot,” Justin said. “Whether you come for breakfast, a drink with friends or a long lunch, it always feels like a little getaway by the water.”
