From Bald Hills to France, emerging fashion designer Lucy Bullock has landed the opportunity of a lifetime.
Selected as one of 50 emerging designers to showcase their designs at the first edition of Salon des Jeunes Createurs in Cannes this August, the 22-year-old said she was ecstatic about the opportunity.
“It is a very surreal and exciting opportunity to be selected as one of 50 designers globally to showcase my work,” she said.
Organised by the Reich’Art group, the event is designed as a platform to spotlight and support emerging designers and artists, allowing them to exhibit, connect and sell their work in a professional setting.
Over the two days, designers and artists will showcase their collections and projects across more than 1000 square metres of space.
International media, photographers, investors, buyers and industry professionals will be in attendance, making it an incredible networking and exposure opportunity.
Slow Fashion, Fast Rise: The Vision Behind Lucy Bullock’s Label
Graduating in 2024 with a Bachelor of Fashion Design and Finance, Lucy has showcased her designs at the Brisbane Fashion Festival, the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, and the Queensland Arts and Fashion Festival Next Gen Runway.
The Reich’Art group had been following Lucy’s Instagram for a while before contacting her directly to invite her to the Cannes event.
“They said they were looking for designers who are involved in both the design and making processes of their brand,” she said.
“They also enjoyed my aesthetic and how it aligns with what they want to promote over there.”
Lucy said her Lucy Bullock brand has an emphasis on being ethical and sustainable where it can. She wants to put forward something that is very slow fashion.
“I want to provide slow production on a made-to-order small-scale structure, where I am directly involved in every single piece,” she said.
“I also want to document my processes so I can be as transparent as possible because that isn’t always the case in the fashion industry.”
With plans to also launch her brand in August, the Salon des Jeunes Createurs couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I cannot wait to get out there and show off what I can do,” she said.
