Get ready to boot scoot your way into August with the return of the Giddy Up Sandgate Festival.
Now in its fourth year, the country meets the bayside for three days of country music and family- friendly activities.
Sandgate Bayside Chamber of Commerce president, Bill Gollan, said Giddy Up was the only country music festival held in the city of Brisbane.
“Like all our bayside events, it started small, it started as a thought, and it’s grown so much,” he said.
“Look at Jingle All the Bay and the Bluewater Festival, and the Long Table – our area has a great reputation for amazing events, and people come from all over to attend Giddy Up.”
The festival celebrates all things country at a number of venues right across the 4017.
Three Days of Country Fun and Community Spirit
The weekend kicks off on Friday night with crowd favourite The Hillbilly Goats performing at the Full Moon Hotel.
On Saturday morning, get your day started with a free country-themed training session at CrossFit 4017 and spend the afternoon and evening listening to some amazing live music at the Cardigan Bar and The Sands Social.
Head to the Sands Bowlo on Sunday afternoon from noon for kids’ activities, music, and food.
“Giddy Up is not just for our hospitality businesses,” Bill said.
“We love to see our local shopfronts decorated with a country theme, and we encourage all the staff in our cafes and other businesses to dress up. Let’s see everyone in their flannel shirts, their boots, and their cowboy hats.
“And shop local too – get your jeans here, your country outfits and accessories.”
Bill added that the Giddy Up Festival was another chance to highlight the beauty of the bayside area and encourage visitors from across Brisbane.
“We want people to come here, support our local businesses, and see what we have to offer,” he said.
“We have some great plans for the future for Giddy Up, and really, the sky is the limit for this event. As we like to say here, let’s dream big.”
