Grab your family and friends for an inspiring night out surrounded by beautiful works of art, all while supporting a meaningful cause.

Opening at Artrageous this month, emerging artist Brendon Jones is excited to hold his very first exhibit, Tiny Strokes, Big Meaning, with 100% of the proceeds going to Epilepsy Queensland in honour of his late wife, who passed away from the disorder in 2013.

As an artist living with a disability, Brendon only discovered his love of painting after receiving his first paint-by-numbers set in 2022.

“I was initially inspired by my late wife’s love of tapestry,” Brendon said. “I find painting to be relaxing and peaceful, and I like being able to do it in the comfort of my own home.”

Nature, Detail and Dedication in Every Stroke

His exhibit will include 20-30 pieces of his original acrylic on canvas works, each piece having taken Brendon on a unique creative journey.

“Every painting is a challenge,” he said. “Every single piece is unique, and it can be difficult, but people see my personality through my paintings.”

His pieces often depict beautiful, natural scenes, created with meticulous strokes, vibrant colours and, interestingly, often with the aid of a magnifying glass to ensure he gets the tiny details just right.

“I like nature, sunset and sunrises,” Brendon said. “I also like animals, waterfalls, old cottages, flowers and mountains. Some sections are so small so it’s easier to see the little bits with a magnifying glass. I have it on a stand with a light that I can move around to wherever I am working.”

Brendon has now found passion and purpose in his artwork and enjoys filling his days with time spent at his easel, listening to music. Although he explained that he may be slower at it than others, he has completed over fifty pieces since embarking on his artistic journey.

“I started with smaller paintings and eventually grew to larger ones,” he said. “The exhibit will have a variety of animal, scenery and nature paintings available in various sizes – some that are up to 90x70cm.”
