If family fun is on your agenda, the Backyard Bonanza is for you.

Running for more than 20 years, the event is back again in 2024 at McPherson Park in Bracken Ridge.

Coordinator Louise Gordon said the Backyard Bonanza had something for everyone.

“Visitors can expect to see a variety of food vans including baked spuds, potato twisters, have a toast day, and dagwood dogs, as well as coffee vans, ice cream vans and more,” she said.

“We have two stages of entertainment, which will be showcasing the talents of many of our local school bands and choirs, as well as performances by McLai Pipes and Drums, Zills and Zaghreets Belly Dancing and so much more.”

The big highlight for this year’s event will be an appearance by the world’s favourite blue heeler.

“This year we are so excited to announce that Bluey and her sister Bingo will be attending the Backyard Bonanza to entertain us with three live stage shows throughout the day,” Louise said.

She added event organisers were keen to keep the cost of the event for families as low as possible.

“We know that many families and businesses are struggling with the rising cost of living so a community event like this is a chance for everyone to enjoy a day out with their family and friends at low cost,” Louise said.

“Making it affordable for everyone is very important to us and we are very appreciative of all our sponsors and supporters for being a part of Backyard Bonanza and we’d particularly like to thank and acknowledge Brisbane City Council, Councillor Sandy Landers, Three Wise Monkeys, BRT, Bracken Ridge Plaza and 99.7Bridge FM Radio.

“The giant slide, the teacups and the rock wall are all free and the Lions will be running their trains at a cost of $2 per person.

“Kids can get up close and personal with some animals. There will be a chance to hold a snake or baby crocodile or visit the animal farm and enjoy some interaction with llamas and alpacas as well as miniature goats and more.

“It’s going to be a great day out for the whole family.”
