Coming in at second place, Doug’s Seafood Café has us locals drooling over their calamari, barramundi strips and crunchy chips. Doug’s offers families generous serving sizes and a kid friendly menu that keeps everyone happy. However, perhaps what sets Doug’s apart from other fish and chip shops in Sandgate and surrounds is their fresh seafood salads. You can enjoy a fresh prawn and haloumi salad or sample the local’s favourite, a grilled octopus Greek salad. Colette is a big fan of Doug’s, “Great food and generous serves and the salad is always really fresh.” Doug’s is open 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is pet friendly.

Freshest fish and chip place you could possibly eat at.” We highly recommend heading across the road with your order for a picnic on the grass. Housed in a spacious historic building, you will be charmed by this seaside café.

  1. Although it’s not a fish and chip shop as such, the new Bay Cafe near Sandgate swimming pool serve delicious fish and chips and their coffee is good too. I think they are better than all the other fish and chips shops around…apart from Yabbey Road in Redcliffe of course…you just can’t beat them for the freshness of their fish.

    Thanks
    Annie
