After a decade of snapping 4017 locals, photographer Paul Neil is putting the lens cap on his career with the Sandgate Guide

Speaking with the Guide, he said it had been a fantastic 10 years.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to have seen much of the 4017’s social events and history over the last decade and to be able to be there with you as your photographer,” he said.

A New Chapter of Adventures

“2025 is going to be a big year of travel for me as (wife) Kym and I head off to Europe again for a few months of the year.

“We will also be travelling to see our beautiful family and friends in New South Wales and Western Australia.”

One of Paul’s first Social Snaps pages was taking photos of bikers outside the old Seaview Hotel in Shorncliffe, which closed its doors for the last time in December 2014.

This edition, December 2024, will feature Paul’s last-ever Social Snaps page.

However, he added he would still be seen out and about in the 4017 on a regular basis.

“I am no longer your Sandgate Guide social photographer, but I will still be attending some of the fabulous Sandgate and surrounding festivals and social events so come up and say g’day,” Paul said.

“Thanks again to everyone who stopped for a moment and a photo with me over the last 10 years.”
