Extracurricular activities are vital for high schoolers, according to Year 10 student Eden.
Eden said extracurriculars gave students the opportunity to showcase their skills and improve learning in a fun and creative way.
“They also allow us to explore topics of interest to us,” Eden said.
“At my school, Sandgate District State High School, we have many opportunities to incorporate these fun and educational activities into our school calendar.
“One example is our Culture Night, where students are able to proudly showcase and share their connection to their culture.
“Dance Night is another remarkable event happening in September when students of all abilitiesperform dances in front of a packed crowd.”
Enhancing Learning and Confidence Through Fun and Creative Activities
Eden added the activities allowed students to be creative and have fun, while showcasing their talents and “demonstrating their abilities beyond the classroom”.
“The extracurricular activities that Sandgate District SHS organises are vital for us students, they help us showcase our skills and improve our learning in an exciting and creative way,” Eden said.
“Extracurriculars are important to young people, because they allow us to explore our own interests and capabilities that we may not otherwise get the opportunity to in a classroom setting.
“Furthermore, they allow us to develop our confidence in ourselves.”
Sandgate District State High School’s Dance Night is on Friday, 6 September, and the Culture Night was held in June.
