Love, laughter and live music unite for Country Love: The Ultimate Date Night – a unique concert featuring three of Australia’s favourite country music couples.

Put on your boots, grab your partner and join Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley, Jay and Mark O’Shea, and Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham for a memorable night at Eatons Hill Hotel this month.

Josh, a founding member of The Waifs, said the concept for the show was born when Mark and Jay put the idea to the other couples.

“We thought celebrating love through making country music with friends sounded like a lot of fun,” Josh said. “Any chance you get to connect with people through music is a chance you want to take.”

In 2021, Josh and Felicity (‘Fliss’) released The Song Club, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Country Album Charts and won the AIR Award for Best Independent Country Album. Last year’s follow-up album, Birdsong, won three Golden Guitar Awards.

Fliss, who has had a long career as a TV presenter on Sydney Weekender and as the host of ABC Radio’s Saturday Night Country, said the couples had been working together to craft the show.

“Through the magic of technology, thanks to Mark’s savvy tech skills, we catch up for coffee and a chat to workshop the show,” she said. “Most of the time, we’re just laughing at funny ideas that tend to come from Brooke and Jay. It’s going to be a fun show.”

A Night of Collaboration and Fun

Concert-goers can expect an interactive experience, with each couple performing their hit songs and engaging with the audience.

“We don’t want to give too much away but yes, there will be collaborations, audience participation and crowd faves from each duo’s catalogue,” Josh said.

Fliss added: “I’d suggest to wear your best shirt to the show as you never know who might end up on stage from the audience.”

According to Felicity and Josh, the show will be meticulously planned, but with room for spontaneity, because that was when the “special moments happened”.

Perhaps fans might hear some anecdotes about how their partnership began.

“Fliss and I were part of a small group of writers in a song club that was conducted purely online,” Josh said. “She had the great idea to invite me around to write a song in person. I turned up with my banjo and basically never left. She makes a good cuppa.”
