Exciting news for the 4017 community! The iconic Sandgate Post Office Hotel is undergoing a complete transformation and is set to reopen later this year.

The historic hotel, which closed earlier this year, is a landmark in the area, and locals have been eager to hear news of its future.

Sam Johnson, CEO of SKJ Capital, the venue’s landlord, said they were currently doing a full renovation of the building ahead of a new operator coming in.

“The venue’s getting a total refresh, new name, redesigned function areas and a full fit-out to turn it into a proper modern sports bar and grill,” Sam said.

New Era for a Beloved Landmark

The revamped space will offer a relaxed atmosphere with a menu featuring crowd-pleasers like wings, burgers and steaks, which Sam said would all be at affordable prices.

The reopening is anticipated for October this year and is set to be a welcome return to the Sandgate dining and entertainment scene.

Originally built in 1887 as Queensland’s third post office, the heritage-listed building at Bowser Parade and Rainbow Street is a significant part of the community’s history.

Stay tuned for more updates as the reopening date approaches. The Sandgate Guide will provide further details as they become available.
