Each year, before the end of the school year, high schools in our area host their Orientation Day for the following year.
Incoming students are given an opportunity to get to know the school and the people in their home groups, and get a feel for their new school for the next six years.
Although Orientation Days are a great way to get to know the school, the Journalist Club wanted to ask other students their best tips for starting high school.
The Best Tips For Starting High School
Here are some of the tips from current Sandgate District State High School students for those of you starting high school in 2025:
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for help – your teachers will know you are new and learning the ways of your new school.
- Feel free to ask for help from students too.
- Participate in everything you can to get the most out of high school. All high schools have clubs and groups you can join, so get amongst it.
- Be a friendly face for others too – everyone in your grade will be new to the school, and you could be the friendly face they need to settle in.
The Sandgate District State High School Journalist Club wishes the best for new students starting high school in 2025 and we look forward to welcoming a new group of members next year when they start with us!
