With Jenny, Keep Sandgate Beautiful Association
What a fantastic day this year’s Einbunpin Festival was for the 4017 community. So many locals and visitors out and about on a beautiful day, enjoying the music, the stalls and the warmth of a vibrant local festival.
KSBA were delighted with the community’s beautiful photos of the lagoons, creeks, wetlands and tidal flats entered into our Einbunpin photo competition. This display highlighted how fortunate we are to be surrounded by these natural environments and how precious they are, given the population pressures of South East Queensland.
Creative Competitions and Local Talent
The amazing quilt created by Barbara Freeman, mother of KSBA treasurer, Michael, and won by local lass, Kylie, incorporated squares featuring native animals and plants in a design called Attic Window. The chance to win the quilt enticed many visitors into the KSBA display, who were then surprised and impressed at the wonderful photos entered into the competition.
Last but not least, the Kids Art Competition highlighted the diversity of our local native animals, as kookaburras, turtles, bush stone curlews, snakes, cockatoos and pelicans were featured in paint, pencil and even crochet. Once again, these serve to remind us how lucky we are to live where kids can see these animals in the local environment.
