The Sands Bowlo is turning one and you’re invited to join the birthday celebrations.
On Sunday, 26 January, the venue will host a free family fun day, packed with live music, food, activities…and cake!
General manager Vjorn Bradow said they were excited to celebrate The Sands Bowlo’s first birthday this Australia Day.
“We can’t believe it’s been a year since we re-opened the doors of the bowls club,” Vjorn said.
“Our celebrations on 26 January will be fun for the whole family – including free activities for the kids and live entertainment.
“We thank the entire Sandgate community for their support over the last year and look forward to celebrating another great year!”
Entertainment and Live Music to Celebrate
The day will be filled with lawn games, barefoot bowls, a jumping castle, a BBQ sausage sizzle and a special birthday cake to share. Kids can also enjoy free face painting between 12.30pm and 5.30pm.
The entertainment lineup features local talent, including Brett Goodwin from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, followed by Across the Ages, who will perform from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
Greg Tschernz, known as GBass, is the bass player and singer in Across the Ages, alongside Steve (guitar/vocals) and Robbie (drums/vocals). Steve and Robbie have worked together since the 70s, and Greg and Steve have been collaborating for the past 25 years.
“The years of friendship really shows in the way we perform and interact, not only with each other on stage, but also with the crowds we love to perform for,” GBass said.
He said the band were excited to play the first birthday gig at The Sands Bowlo.
“We are most definitely looking forward to bringing our music to this special event and we know everyone will have a great time no matter their age, as we play music that reaches ‘Across the Ages’,” he said.
The audience can expect to hear a mix of Aussie classics from music legends like Paul Kelly, INXS, Noiseworks and Diesel, alongside 70s hits from Mondo Rock, Billy Thorpe and Cold Chisel.
“We would describe our sound as classic songs that everyone knows and loves to sing along with and dance to,” GBass said.
