When customers walk into the recently opened Friends and Flowers café in Deagon, they may be in for a Friends-ly surprise.

Just as Central Perk provided a warm and inviting home away from home for the characters of the hit TV show, Friends and Flowers offers that same welcoming atmosphere – complete with a replica of Monica’s iconic door!

“For us, Friends is not just a TV show – it’s a lifestyle and an ideology,” explained owner Max Morouzi. “People turn to ‘Friends therapy’ whenever they feel down and we wanted to keep those good vibes going.”

Max said that although he and his wife Mina only opened the cafe in late July, the idea had been brewing for many years prior.

“The concept had been on my mind for almost 10 years,” he said. “But, we were busy with studies and other commitments so we were just waiting for the right time and place.”

As first-time café owners, Max and Mina are looking forward to offering a place for people to relax, catch up with friends, cosy up with a book, or enjoy a meal.

“We’ve put a lot of thought into the decor and ambience to make it feel like a second home for our customers,” Max said. “We’ve received a lot of positive energy from everyone so far.”

The café offers a wide variety of foods from classics like Eggs Benedict to unique items like their signature burgers and Persian homemade pastries.

“We’ve done a lot of experimenting and trials to provide the best food in a reasonable time, with great value for money,” Max said. “All made by us with love!”

While the business continues to grow, Max and Mina are already cooking up new ideas to benefit their customers.

“We’re considering opening a few nights a week in the future and we’re also applying for a footpath food license to better accommodate customers with dogs and those in wheelchairs,” Max said. “Other plans include playing the Friends TV show, offering early bird deals, high teas and more.”

Although the café is still fairly new, Max and Mina are grateful for the warm reception they’ve received from the community and are committed to continuously improving and providing a space that everyone can enjoy.

“There are a lot of new ideas in the works,” Max said. “Be sure to follow along at facebook.com/FriendsFlowers.Cafe to stay up to date.”
