Do you know you have an incredible source of inspiration, creativity, talent and outreach to the community right on your doorstep?

Since November 1999, Artrageous Arts has established itself as a not-for-profit, incorporated and self-funded community organisation, as well as a registered charity. It’s their 25th birthday this month and you are invited to join in the celebration! The event comprises an opening night and an art exhibition, displays and a media presentation of their past and current exhibited artists, students and teachers.

Originally a creative initiative of a group of locals with the intent of bringing together a growing community of artists within Sandgate and outlying suburbs, Artrageous Arts has continued to grow and offer more to the community.

The daily management of the centre is coordinated by Artists-in-Residence Anne Gadsby and Shane Rodwell, who work tirelessly to make art accessible and enjoyable to everyone, including those with disabilities.

A Hub for Artists and the Community

Artrageous coordinates weekly and monthly activities, specialty classes and workshops, which are facilitated by the Artists-in-Residence, volunteers or guest artists at this multipurpose venue, which also includes a delightful Artback Garden.

Artist-in-Residence, Anne Gadsby, said Artrageous was a great place for like-minded people to talk about art and to experiment and experience new methods and techniques.

“It’s invaluable that there is a place in the community that offers all this and is also somewhere people can share their skills and knowledge,” Anne said.

“While we are inviting anyone who has any connection at all to Artrageous to view the exhibition and attend opening night, we also extend a warm welcome to those who have never been here before.

“This is a great opportunity for people new to our friendly creative community to experience the past as we move into the future.”

Light refreshments will be available on opening night. For further information, search Facebook events for ‘Artrageous and Gallery 4017’ and click the ‘Going’ button if you are attending.

Can’t make the opening night but would love to see the exhibition? You are in luck! The 25th Birthday Exhibition runs from 11 April to 3 May. Don’t miss it!
