This month, the Sandgate District State High School Journalist Club asked the members of the school’s Environmental Committee what they enjoy about being part of the club, and what we can do to help the environment.
Helping The Environment Helps Yourself
According to the members of the Environmental Committee, helping the environment gives people the feeling of “pride, fulfillment, feeling of belonging and connection, contribution, feel happier, breath better”.
There are countless strategies that we can do to help the environment, from exchanging containers for change, to collecting materials such as paper, recycling, worm farms, native stingless bee farms, and much more.
Some more of the simple strategies you can do in 2025 to help include:
- Composting
- Water conservation
- Using reusable water bottles
- Donating clothes and other items
- Using reusable grocery bags
- Conserve energy turn off lights, unplug unnecessary chargers, etc
- Walk, bike, carpool and use public transport
