Enbrook Park on Telegraph Road in Bracken Ridge has received a sporty makeover, encouraging more families to enjoy the great outdoors together.
The new multi-use games area has been designed to make space for a variety of informal sporting activities and unstructured play.
Bracken Ridge Ward Councillor, Sandy Landers, said she was delighted with the park upgrades.
“The multi-use games areas are great for kids, young people, and families to get active close to home, and adds to the range of recreational options available locally,” she said.
“We’ve made better use of the existing half basketball court by adding line markings for pickleball, giving people more ways to use the space.”
Pickleball and Multi-Use Recreation for Families
Pickleball participation has continued to rise since 2020, and it is now the fastest-growing sport in the country.
The low-to-moderate impact sport, which originated in America, is played at both recreational and competitive levels, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
It can be played as a singles game with two players, or doubles with four players.
Cr Landers added that it was fantastic to see “so many kids and families making the most of all that Enbrook Park has to offer over the holidays.”
“Delivering upgrades like these are part of the Schrinner Council’s focus on making Brisbane’s lifestyle even better,” she said.
As well as pickleball and basketball, there’s also line markings for soccer, including built-in goals.
