A community walk will encourage locals to support children and young people affected by trafficking, homelessness and exploitation.
The Blue Dragon Walk Brisbane will be held on Sunday, 13 September along the Shorncliffe foreshore, with participants able to choose from 2km, 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km distances before gathering for a community barbecue and free sausage sizzle.
Event organiser Dr Annie Holden said the walk was about bringing people together for a cause that changes the lives of the most vulnerable.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safe, free and full of hope,” she said. “The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation Walk gives our community a simple but meaningful way to stand alongside children and young people who have experienced unimaginable hardship. Every step helps support Blue Dragon’s life-changing work.”
About Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation
Founded in 2004 by Australian Michael Brosowski, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation works in Vietnam, rescuing children and young people from trafficking, slavery and other crisis situations.
Since its establishment, Blue Dragon has rescued more than 2,000 people from slavery, supported more than 8,800 children and young people through education, and reunited more than 2,900 with their families.
The walk is open to people of all ages and fitness levels, including families, schools, workplaces, community groups and those wishing to bring their dogs. Participants can complete their chosen distance at their own pace.
