Multitude Community Choir will take audiences on a musical journey from the stage to the screen when it presents its latest concert, Salute the Stars, this month.

The contemporary show choir will return to Sandgate Town Hall on Saturday, 5 September.

Member Adele Moy said the choir enjoyed performing at the iconic venue because of the welcoming audiences and community spirit.

“Sandgate audiences have always been enthusiastic and receptive; they enthusiastically clap and sing along (which we encourage) and are so supportive of our own local live music scene,” Adele said.

Musical director Dale Lingwood will lead the choir and accompanying band through a program featuring pop hits from Adele, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Jason Mraz, and Billy Joel, alongside songs from Broadway productions such as Wicked, Annie, Hair, and Les Misérables.

A Night of Broadway and Elvis Magic

The choir’s male members will also perform a rendition of Jailhouse Rock.

“And yes, we do have our very own Elvis, complete with the white sparkly jumpsuit,” Adele said.

“For me, I am looking forward to performing Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In from the Broadway show Hair, because it’s such a fun and happy song. But, as a contrast, I also enjoy singing Billy Joel’s And So It Goes, which has been arranged beautifully for choral singing.

“And that’s the joy of a concert such as this…the wide range of music with which you’ll be entertained.”

Tickets are $30 and include supper (under 12 free). Book your spots here.
