We are pleased to see the recent announcement from the Brisbane City Council for the ‘Sandgate Centre Suburban Renewal Precinct’ project.
Behind the scenes, our Chamber has been busy advocating for the development of a Precinct Plan to help local businesses support our community. To drive this vision forward, we’re excited to share our new community-led initiative – Activate! Sandgate!
Through Activate! Sandgate! we want to reenergise the conversation about the future of Sandgate – one that is centred around a vibrant, active and economically sustainable bayside business and community hub.
Local businesses are at the heart of our community and help make it tick! They employ local, live local, and provide important services to our community. Over time, a lack of growth in our area, increased cost of living pressures, and changing shopping habits have placed a tremendous toll on local business and it’s critical that planned and considered actions are taken to help keep our business community alive.
To keep up to date on Activate! Sandgate! be sure to follow us on Facebook.
This is your opportunity to get involved in the conversation and make sure the voices of the local businesses at the heart of our community are heard.

What Should Local Businesses Be Focusing on in 2026?
With continued economic uncertainty, there’s plenty business owners can’t control – but how you grow, protect and position your business in 2026 is something you can. For local Sandgate & Bayside businesses, three focus areas stand out this year.
Grow Smarter with AI
AI is no longer just for big businesses or tech companies. In 2026, local businesses are using AI to save time, improve customer communication, create marketing content faster, and reduce admin pressure. For owner-operators especially, AI can mean less late-night paperwork and more consistent visibility. Used practically, it’s a tool to work smarter – not harder.
Protect What You’ve Built with Better Cyber Security
Small and local businesses are now one of the biggest targets for cyber attacks. From hacked social media accounts and fake invoices to compromised booking systems and EFTPOS disruptions, the risks are real. Basic cyber security – strong passwords, two-factor authentication, secure backups and staff awareness – is now an essential part of running a business, not an optional extra.
Connect Locally – Strong Networks Matter
In times of change, businesses that are connected adapt faster. Being part of local networks like the Sandgate & Bayside Chamber of Commerce and the Brisbane City Council Business Hub provides access to shared knowledge, collaboration opportunities, local referrals, and support that simply can’t be replaced by ads or algorithms.
Join the Chamber
