Christmas is the most festive time of the year, when families come together to celebrate joy, kindness, and the spirit of giving through traditions and gatherings.
As December hits, everyone starts decorating their homes with colourful lights, Christmas trees, wreaths and ornaments.
Many people go all out attending church services, singing carols, baking delicious food, exchanging gifts and making silly jokes or even hitting the barbecue for some nice Aussie snags. It’s like everyone’s eager to deck the halls with boughs of holly.
As the community celebrates the birth of Jesus, an array of emerald-green and crimson-red flashes all around symbolising the light of the world. Some people celebrate through Christmas decorating competitions, markets, or even going to festivals.
A Light-Hearted Santa Mention and Holiday Greetings
And of course, I’ve heard rumours about a fat old man called Santa, who is ‘dashing through the bush in a rusty Holden Ute’, secretly hoping for a nice comfy chair, for a nice nap and a refreshment of some milk and cookies, and maybe a carrot for his favourite reindeer, Rudolph.
On behalf of Sandgate District State High School’s Journalist Club, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
