The Quota Club of Sandgate is getting ready to hit the catwalk to raise funds for a worthy cause and raise awareness of the work they do in the community.
The club is hosting a fashion parade on 19 July and secretary Jeanette Trappett said the money would go towards helping women and children in the 4017.
“The fashions will be from Portofino, which is a Brisbane-based clothing manufacturer, so it’s all locally done,” she said.
The label offers a range of women’s skirts, pants, tops, dresses, jackets and accessories, so there will be something for everyone.
“We’re also going to be having some great raffle prizes,” Jeanette said. “And the best thing is, all the profits go towards raising funds for disadvantaged women and children, as well as hearing and speech assistance in local schools.”

Quota has been in Australia since the 1930s and the Sandgate branch has been active in the community since 1962.
The club consistently contributes to Aspley Care, Sandgate Meals on Wheels, school achiever awards, the Hear & Say Centre, and Hummingbird House.
“We’re just a community-minded organisation and we are always looking for new members,” Jeanette said.
“For me personally, I’ve always enjoyed charity work and even though I still work full-time, I think it takes a village to make a community.
“If anyone in our community is just at home and looking for companionship, or looking to help others, Quota could be for you. Doing good for others can make you feel good about yourself too.”
The club holds a street stall in Sandgate on the last Friday of every month to raise funds, but Jeanette said they were hoping to go to the next level with the fashion show.
“We’re a small club, but we enjoy helping others and we hope the fashion parade will really boost our funds and our membership as well,” she said.
“It’s going to be a really fun event and everyone in the community is welcome.”
