Stuck for ways of keeping the family entertained this winter? Look no further, as we have all the family-friendly movie highlights for June and July.

Must-See Movies Hitting Screens This Winter

Karate Kid Legends – 5 June

The Karate Kid story has spanned several generations with multiple sequels and even a TV series. This latest instalment sees a culmination of old meeting new, with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio returning to help a young prodigy compete in the ultimate championship.

How to Train Your Dragon Live Action – 12 June

Taking a leaf out of Disney’s book, HTTYD is DreamWorks’ first live action-remake, retelling the story of Viking Hiccup as he befriends a dragon. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find any real dragons. With a sequel already in the works and the original writer and director on board, it should be true to the source material.

Elio -19 June

Elio is having trouble fitting in. His solution? Getting abducted by aliens. As the only winter release that isn’t based on an existing property, I’m keen to see whether Disney Pixar can match their previous successes, as they need a win after Snow White.

Jurassic World: Rebirth – 3 July

Set five years after the last Jurassic World movie, a new team is on a mission to extract DNA from the biggest dinos left alive. What could go wrong?

Smurfs – 10 July

A no-brainer for those of you with younger kids. Smurfette leads an expedition to rescue Papa Smurf from the evil Gargamel. Cuteness ensues.

Superman – 10 July

In one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Superman is torn between his life as a human and his alien heritage. Can he breathe life back into comic book movies?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps – 24 July

Ok, so this is also one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and for good reason when you look at the cast. Retro fun is almost guaranteed, as our heroes defend the world from a planet-destroying force.

Freakier Friday – 7 August

It’s been 22 years since a mum and daughter swapped bodies, but now with a blended family, there should be double the fun.
