Get ready to hit the pavement as your favourite 4017 charity bar tour returns for its third year – with some fun new twists and a heroic new name.

Chris Hare, Executive Officer at the Sandgate Bayside Chamber of Commerce, said that while the July walking tour, formerly known as ‘Jingle Brews’, originally started as a Christmas fundraiser, it had now cemented a place in the middle of the year.

“We’ve had such a great response from local businesses and attendees and have some exciting changes in store for this year,” Chris said. “It will now be known as ‘Heroes for Hope: Bayside Bar Tour for Charity’. This will be Sandgate’s ultimate dress-up bar tour, raising vital funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity.”

Participants are highly encouraged to dress up as heroes or superheroes to celebrate courage and community while supporting a cause that truly matters.

“Variety helps kids overcome challenges – they’re the real heroes, and we celebrate them,” Chris said. “Through the last two events, we have raised over $8000 for Variety – the Children’s Charity, and we’re aiming to well and truly get that past the $10,000 mark this year.”

What to Expect on the Heroes for Hope Tour

This tour will travel through the heart of Sandgate, visiting Mr Henderson, The Full Moon Hotel, Cardigan Bar, and The Sands Social, and will wrap up with a special event celebration at The Sands Bowlo. Ticket holders will receive a free drink at each venue as well as a complimentary light bite at one of the stops along the way.

“There will also be games, activities and entertainment across the venues all afternoon,” Chris said. “Teams can take part in ‘axe throwing’, bowls, card games and more, with a chance to win prizes every hour.”

Chris said there was also a special business award for the team that raised the most money, with a trophy and bragging rights up for grabs.

“Last year’s prize was won by the team at McArthur Industries,” he said, “so we’ll have to see who’s going to step up to take it this year.”

Open to anyone over 18, the event welcomes teams of all sizes to participate in the fun.

“If people are booking by themselves, that’s great too,” Chris said. “We’ll group you with other solo travellers.”
