Ready, set, run! Race Hub Australia is gearing up to hold their first ever Queensland event this August and it’s happening right here in Brighton.
Race Director and Founder and Director of Race Hub Australia, Jack Green, said that the Brighton Running Festival would be an accessible race for all levels.
“There’s a big gap in inclusive running events between parkrun and the larger races with 2000+ runners, which can be quite overwhelming for beginners,” Jack said. “We try to take the intimidation factor out of racing, making it more inclusive for runners, joggers and walkers.”
Jack explained that while all of Race Hub’s events have been in New South Wales so far, their goal is to expand all over Australia.
“Race Hub is just over a year old and we had three events in 2024 and will have 10+ in 2025,” he said. “As running is in a major boom in Australia, we believe that races that have minimal impact on the community like this deserve to be more regular.”
What to Expect on Race Day
The event will feature a 2km Family Dash, as well as 5km and 10km races, and a half marathon, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Moreton Bay.
With ocean breezes, salty air and stunning seaside views from the water’s edge all the way from Brighton to the Shorncliffe Pier, Jack said that the fantastic scenery and flat, straight path made it ideal for a quick race.
“A lot of our runners at Race Hub are first-timers, so if you need a race to ease you into running events before trying one of the major ones, this is it,” Jack said.
“What’s great is a lot of those first-timers come back again as they can’t get enough of the race day buzz.”
Everyone is encouraged to come down and cheer on the participants.
“Spectators add great value to the start/finish chute,” Jack said. “We will have a beer sponsor (non-alcoholic beer for everyone after the race), as well as coffee and food trucks available.”
