Local qualified life coach and Sandgate Guide wellness columnist Tricia Bolton has launched a new podcast to help small business owners navigate the challenges of running a business.
The owner of Tricia Bolton Coaching said she created Everything Feels Important for small business owners who constantly feel pulled in ten different directions.
“There are lots of podcasts that teach you how to grow your business; I wanted to create one that helps you decide what deserves your attention before you start doing all the things,” Tricia said.
“Small business owners aren’t short on ideas or motivation. They’re drowning in them. Every task feels important. Every opportunity feels urgent. By the end of the day, they’re exhausted, but they’re still wondering whether they spent their time on the right things. Their to-do list is just as long as it was that morning. I wanted to create a podcast that helps people cut through that noise and overwhelm.”
Learning to Think Like a CEO
Each episode explores challenges faced by small business owners, including overwhelm, decision-making, procrastination and why being productive is not always the same as making progress.
“I talk about prioritising, making decisions with more confidence and learning to think more like a CEO,” Tricia said. “I’m much less interested in helping people squeeze more into their day than I am in helping them spend their time on the work that actually matters.”
She said upcoming episodes would examine why people keep working on the wrong tasks, what CEOs do differently, why business owners second-guess their decisions and when the smartest business move is deciding what not to do.
Tricia said the podcast conversations had also inspired her.
“One of the biggest surprises for me was discovering that many of the habits that made me a successful employee weren’t helping me build a successful business,” she shared. “Working hard, saying yes, being available and solving every problem yourself can make you a fantastic employee. As a business owner, though, I’ve learned that success comes from making better decisions, not just working harder.”
She said she hoped listeners finished each episode feeling lighter.
“I think overwhelm has become so normal that many business owners assume it’s simply the price of entry,” she said. “My experience has been the opposite. The most successful business owners I work with aren’t the busiest – they’re the ones with the most clarity. That’s exactly what I hope this podcast helps people find.
“If someone listens on the way to work and ends up with more clarity about what matters today – and permission to stop worrying about everything else – then I’ve done my job, and I’ll call that a win.”
Everything Feels Important is available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
