The country meets the seaside this month at the annual Giddy Up! Sandgate Bayside festival.

Get your boots on and get ready to kick up your heels all weekend long, with several venues hosting country music acts, rural-themed décor and food right across the 4017.

Gates Edge boutique owner, Annalisse, said she was excited to be joining the festivities.

“To us, music and fashion make the perfect combination, because it’s all about dressing up, getting together and enjoying live music,” she said.

“I’m also a musician, and the Gate’s Edge girls are always singing, so this is the perfect opportunity to combine two great loves to entertain the community.”

Dave Kero has opened a guitar studio two doors down from the boutique and in between will be an “exciting new chapter” on Brighton Road.

“The former Town Hall Bakery is being transformed into the most fabulous space that will look through into the boutique, along with a brand-new outdoor seating space on a rear deck and garden area,” Annalisse said.

“We are thrilled to team up with Dave Kero Guitar Studio to put on a special Guitar Showcase inside the new venue so that locals will have the opportunity to take a first look inside. And expressions of interest are open for a café or wine bar business to take over the space when it is complete around September.”

Annalisse added she felt Giddy Up had the potential to become “a mini-Tamworth”, referencing Tamworth, New South Wales, the home of country music in Australia.

Live Music Heats Up at the Roosters

Over at the Brighton Roosters Rugby League club, there will be plenty of entertainment with the Cambooya Rockers and Bourbon County, as well as a country music trivia competition.

Club venue manager, Dennis Trenery, said the Roosters were proud to be part of the Giddy Up festival.

“Last year’s event was huge, and we are expecting even bigger numbers this year,” he said.

“We put on a good show down here at the Coop. It’s a great thing for our community, bringing people together in a celebration of country music.”

Giddy Up is coordinated by the Sandgate Bayside Chamber of Commerce in partnership with local businesses.
