The Artrageous Community Arts Centre is running an exhibition, Hanging Out Your Smalls, focused on letting visitors purchase quality art pieces from local artists, while remaining affordable.
The exhibition opens on Friday, 14 November at Gallery 4017 in Deagon, and will feature a variety of visual arts, including paintings, mosaics, graphite pen and ink drawings, handcrafts, ceramics and much more. All pieces cost under $90, while being no bigger than 30 by 30 centimetres.
Shane Rodwell, an artist in residence at Artrageous, said the aim of the exhibit is to offer affordable local artwork during a time of financial difficulty.
“Unfortunately, buying artwork is not something that will feed your family, and artists all across Australia are just hanging in there,” Shane said.
“Anyone can own one of these pieces of art.”
Artrageous has run two previous ‘Smalls’ exhibits, and due to a recent decline in artwork sales across Australia, they are once again offering quality, locally-made artwork at affordable prices, perfect as Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.
Supporting Local Artisans and Community Creativity
This exhibit will be the last fundraiser of 2025 before the gallery re-opens in February next year.
The Artrageous Community Arts Centre Treasurer, Gayle Able, said that at a time of financial uncertainty, finding small, quality gifts is essential this holiday season.
“Buy (your loved ones) an original artwork made with love, patience and skill, and in doing so, support our local artisans,” she said.
“With just a few weeks before the Christmas frenzy, this exhibition is perfect for finding unique gifts and stocking fillers.”
Light refreshments will be provided at the opening of the exhibit, with the organisers recommending you arrive early, before all of the pieces are sold out.
The exhibition runs until Saturday, 20 December.
Artrageous Community Arts Centre are also looking for volunteers to either run a children’s class or to be the gallery curator. You can find out more information at www.artrageous.org.au or on the Artrageous Experience Facebook page.
