Brisbane City Council has expanded its free Brisbane Greeters Tours program, adding a new guided experience through Sandgate to encourage more people to explore different parts of the city.

Launched in March, the Sandgate Greeters Tour begins at Sandgate Railway Station, making it easily accessible by public transport from Brisbane’s CBD.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the new Sandgate Brisbane Greeter Tour was a great way to experience the bayside suburb’s unique history, character and community spirit firsthand.

“With beautiful heritage buildings, incredible bay views and easy access by public transport, Sandgate offers the perfect day out for residents and visitors looking to discover a different part of Brisbane,” Cr Schrinner said.

Tour Details and Booking Information

The tours are led by Brisbane Greeters volunteers from across the city who share an interest in local history and culture.

Each tour runs for approximately two to three hours with a maximum of six people per tour. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and footwear, sunscreen and a hat, and to bring a bottle of water.

Upcoming dates for the Sandgate Greeters Tour include 11, 17, and 30 June at 10am and 25 June at 9.30am. Bookings can be made through the Best of Brisbane (Precincts) section here

Visitors wanting to explore independently can take part in the Sandgate Heritage Trail, a free self-guided experience available at any time. Learn more here.
