The biannual St Joseph’s Fete is coming to Bracken Ridge this month, with the long-running community event set to return on Saturday, 6 June.

This year’s fete will feature the well-known attractions everyone loves, including a wide range of food, market stalls, amusement rides, animals, games, raffles and a full program of student performances running throughout the day on the school’s oval. Live entertainment from school bands, choirs and class groups will also feature throughout the event, alongside showbags and animal experiences for children and families to enjoy.

St Joseph’s Primary School Assistant Principal Kate Hutton said what makes the fete so special is that it is entirely community-driven.

“Families, staff, students, parish members and local businesses all come together to make it happen and it has been a much-loved way for the community to support and connect with one another for generations,” Kate said.

On the day, attendees can expect a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere as well as plenty of activities for children of all ages.

“There are many traditions people look forward to each year, but one of the highlights is always watching the students perform on stage, along with the rides, animal attractions and classic fete stalls that families return for year after year,” Kate said.

Bringing Generations Together Through Community

The St Joseph’s School Fete has been running since 1979 and has become a longstanding tradition within the school and wider community, bringing generations of families together over the years.

Behind the scenes, the fete takes many months of planning and coordination.

“A dedicated team of parent volunteers works closely with school staff to manage everything from logistics and suppliers to safety and volunteer coordination,” Kate said.

“Personally, I’m most excited to see the students shine and to experience the strong sense of togetherness that the fete brings to our community.

“Finally, we’d love the wider Sandgate and Bracken Ridge community to know that the fete is open to everyone. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great local event and be part of a tradition that has been connecting families for almost 50 years.”
