The Gold Coast will come alive this month as the iconic Blues on Broadbeach festival returns with an incredible lineup of international and homegrown talent.

Running from 15 to 18 May, the celebration of rhythm and blues is one of Australia’s largest non-ticketed music festivals. This year’s festival will feature artists like The Cruel Sea, Vika and Linda, DIESEL, Eli Paperboy Reed and Memphis-based musician Eric Gales.

Eric said there was something electric about being surrounded by thousands of people who live and breathe blues music the same way that he does.

“Festivals like Blues on Broadbeach aren’t just shows – they’re shared moments, pure energy,” he said. “I’m stoked to have been invited by Memphis Tourism, alongside their partners United Airlines and Globus family of brands, to hit that stage, feel that crowd and be part of something bigger than any one of us.”

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes is set to perform songs from his iconic Soul Deep album at a special one-off show on Sunday, 18 May. This show will be available with an additional Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket, priced at $134.40. Tickets for the performance can be booked via OzTix.

“It’s always great to go back to my roots and sing the songs I listened to as a young performer learning to sing,” Jimmy said. “Soul Deep has meant a lot in my life and every time the band and I get to revisit these songs, it’s a great time for us and the audience.”

Food, Fun and Free Sets at Blues on Broadbeach

As part of the free festival, The James Street Preachers will perform a breakfast set at The Loose Moose on Surf Parade between 8am to 10am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This has become an annual tradition, with music lovers queuing up to enjoy coffee, bacon and blues from 8am to 10am.

For those looking to pair live music with a meal, the Dine and Watch experience is also back. From Friday to Sunday, visitors can book a table at one of the participating local restaurants along Surf Parade and Oracle Boulevard and enjoy a meal while watching live performances scheduled at nearby stages.

Experience Gold Coast Festival Director, Mark Duckworth said the list of acts for this year was so exciting, with international rhythm and blues musicians alongside the best in Australia.

“We can’t wait for May to see all these incredible artists light up the streets, bars and parks, bringing their unique sounds to the heart of Broadbeach,” he said.
