Construction is well underway on the Mulbeam Park playground upgrade at Beams Road, Boondall, with the new play space expected to open this month.

The playground’s design was shaped by community feedback gathered through a survey, before students from Taigum and Boondall State Schools were invited to vote on a selection of playground designs.

Deagon Ward Councillor Jared Cassidy said he wanted the community involved from the beginning, and it was fantastic to have local students help choose between the different designs.

“Who better to ask about a new playground than the local kids who are going to be using it?” Cr Cassidy said.

Funding for the upgrade was secured in 2024, with the project delivering a complete replacement of the old play fort and the relocation of the swings alongside the new playground. Both existing playgrounds have been demolished, with new play equipment installed and a connecting pathway added.

A Playground Designed with the Community

A community launch party will be held this month to celebrate the project’s completion. Local families and the students who helped choose the design will be invited to return and be among the first to use the finished playground.

“I’m looking forward to inviting the kids who helped choose the design back to see the finished playground and officially open it with us,” Cr Cassidy said.

Details of the official opening will be shared on Councillor Jared Cassidy’s Facebook page.
