Art lovers are gearing up for the 2025 Creative Trails event, taking place across two weekends in October.

Hosted by SasArt, the trail was a roaring success last year, and committee member Kylie Davidson said she expected this year to be even bigger and better.

“Last year we had 5000 visitors from across Southeast Queensland,” she said. “Some people even came from Russell Island, Straddie, and interstate.”

Creative Trails Improved Experience

This year’s event features an app, free to download for anyone attending.

“We’ve partnered with Moment Events to create this amazing app, and it has all the information on every artist and their work, it has a fantastic map, and it’s very user-friendly,” Kylie said.

“We really think it will improve the visitor experience. Of course, we will still have a paper map for people, which will be available at local libraries, cafes, and art shops.”

SasArt member Brenda Hal said the two weekends of the Creative Trail were free to attend, and there would be demonstrations and workshops held during the week in between.

“We’re very conscious of the cost of living, so all the workshops are at a low cost,” she said.

“And there’s really something for everyone – we have painting, sculpture, pottery, assemblage, wood carving, fused glass, papermaking, collage, textile, lino printing, jewellery making, pyrography, and mosaic.

“We have new artists this year as well, and the PCYC community garden is also a new stop on the trail.”

Cross Country Tours will be running a bus from 9am on each weekend of the trail, leaving from the Sandgate train station and taking visitors on a highlights tour of the event.

All the artists on the trail will have works for sale, and last year, close to $40,000 worth of works of art were sold.

Kylie added that the trail would take in every suburb of the 4017.

“We have a really creative community here, and people are also very supportive of artists,” she said.

“This is the premier Brisbane art trail, and we can’t wait to see everyone enjoying it.”
