Geebung’s much-loved street party is back for its third year, highlighting local talent and strong community spirit.
On Sunday, 26 October, Collings Street will once again come alive with market stalls, food trucks, live music, and free activities in an event that has become a highlight on the local calendar.
The street party is hosted by Deagon Ward Councillor Jared Cassidy in collaboration with Anika Wells MP and Bart Mellish MP, with support from the Geebung RSL. Cr Cassidy said the event would not be possible without this partnership.
Showcasing the Vibrance of Geebung
“We always knew that locals would embrace a community festival in the heart of Geebung, it’s such a vibrant suburb with schools, shops and clubs,” Cr Cassidy said. “We wanted to be able to showcase that, and surrounding suburbs too, with a special event.
“Seeing the community pride on show is great. The RSL volunteers beaming, local schools and clubs fundraising and performing. It’s a real buzz.”
This year’s event brings a few exciting new additions for families, including an inflatable archery set and more seating for attendees to relax while enjoying performances from local artists.
“We want people to spend a few hours enjoying themselves and supporting local,” Cr Cassidy said.
“We will have a great array of performers from local schools through to up-and-coming performers.”
The layout will follow the same successful format as previous years, with Collings Street closed to traffic and the Geebung RSL car park used for additional space.
Local favourites Geebung State School and Geebung Kindy will be there with stalls, and a selection of food trucks will be on site to ensure no one goes hungry.
“We saw crowds down a bit last year with the rain, so this year we are hoping for dry weather and expecting a bumper crowd,” Cr Cassidy said. “With the support of so many great local businesses, schools and community groups, word is spreading. There will be lots of space for people to sit and eat at a big range of food trucks.
“Geebung is a great place to live with lots to do locally, with a great community!
“We are looking forward to seeing you for a big party on October 26!”
