The answer is no!

There are so many things to do in Brisbane, and plenty of ways to get there that don’t cost much.

Being a teenager in school, there is a low chance of having money to throw at a day out. You may be wondering, what is there to do that doesn’t require much money?

Well, here are some ideas for whether you are with friends, family or going solo:

  • Take a bus to the summit of Mt Coot-tha and go for a hike
  • Take a ferry along the Brisbane River. You can choose between the CityCat services or the free CityHopper service
  • Catch the train out to Shorncliffe and explore the lovely Sandgate Village and walk along the esplanade to take photos on the Shorncliffe pier
  • Explore Deagon Wetlands
  • Enjoy local markets
  • Visit the cultural centre at South Bank
  • Catch up on the museums and art galleries
  • Go on a hunt for the ‘tiny doors’ in the Brisbane city lanes

Getting Around Brisbane Without Breaking the Bank

But how to get there without a car? Here are some affordable ways to get to these locations and many others:

  • Catch a train
  • Take the bus
  • Catch a ferry
  • Bike and scooters, electric or not, just remember to be safe, obey the laws and wear a helmet

And don’t forget, all Translink-operated buses, trains, city ferries, and Gold Coast trams are only 50 cents per trip.
