The Mini Owners Club of Queensland is gearing up for its fourth annual London 2 Brighton run, giving owners of both classic and modern Minis a chance to connect and get out to enjoy the thrill of the drive.
Secretary Dave Townsend said the club was very impressed with the event’s growth since its inaugural run and that they were looking forward to seeing the turnout at the event on Sunday, 31 May.
“Our first year, we were hoping for maybe 10 to 15 cars, but to our surprise, we had 25 starters,” he said. “Since then, our numbers have increased to over 50 cars, which is incredible.”
The London 2 Brighton run, inspired by a UK tradition, celebrates both the cars and the people who love them.
A Scenic Drive Celebrating Mini Culture
“The run is a well-renowned event in England where they travel from Central London to the seaside city of Brighton,” Dave said. “Here, it starts at the corner of London Road and Cross Road in Belmont and wraps up at the Brighton Hotel.”
Participants can expect approximately 100 kilometres of scenic twists and turns through Forest Lake, Mt Coot-tha, Samford and Clear Mountain, before finishing at the Brighton Hotel for the Show and Shine at approximately 11am.
“There will be prizes and raffles with the proceeds going to the Brisbane-based Care Kits for Kids charity,” Dave said. “It is a fun day with some magnificent cars on display and very friendly owners of the vehicles who just love talking Mini – so why not come out and have some fun!”
